Russian plane crash: Islamic state claims responsibility for bringing down passenger plane

All 224 people aboard in the Russian airliner died after the plane crashed in Egypt's Sinai peninsula

Cairo, October 31: Islamic State’s wing from Egypt on Saturday claimed responsibility for bringing down the passenger plane, according to reports. The group claimed the responsibility through their supporters Twitter account on Saturday evening.

However it is still not clear as there is no official statement given by the Egyptian authorities who are probing about the incident and are first who reached the crash site. According to the Egyptian security officials, early investigations suggested the plane crashed due to technical fault.

Aamaq, a website which acts as an official mouthpiece of Islamic State militants, also claimed responsibility of bringing down the plane, reported Reuters. Read Also: (Russian plane crash: All 224 passengers dead)

The statement circulated on Twitter said, “The fighters of the Islamic State were able to down a Russian plane over Sinai province that was carrying over 220 Russian crusaders. They were all killed, thanks be to God”.

On Friday Russian air-force had destroyed 1,623 “terrorist targets” in Syria, a strong base of ISIS in a month-old bombing campaign to support forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.

A statement issued by the cabinet from Egyptian government said that a military aircraft had spotted the wreckage of the Airbus bus plane near Sinai peninsula.

Around 100 bodies have been recovered from Sinai Peninsula in Egypt where the Russian passenger plane crashed on Saturday. EI-ETJ an Airbus A321 that belongs to airline Kolavia/Metrojet had gone off radar after which reports confirmed that the plane crashed in Egypt. Reportedly there were 200 adults, 17 children in the unfortunate plane. As per Flight radar 24, Flight 7K9268 was descending with about 6000 feet per minute just before they lost signal.

Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail in a cabinet-level committee meeting confirmed that the Russian plane has gone missing. According to an official statement, emergency orders have been declared in the state. The statement read, “The head of state has given orders to send emergency ministry (teams) to Egypt immediately to work at the plane crash site.” Egyptian air accident Chief said that the Russian plane had left Egyptians airspace safely and also contacted the Turkish air control control but later lost contact.

Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation said that the Russian aircraft was carrying 224 passengers including 7 crew members. The plane lost contact with the control room after its take off from a Red sea resort which is popular among Russian tourist. The plane was carrying passengers from the Egyptian resort Sharm el-Sheikh to the Russian city of St Petersburg.

“The Russian airline had told us that the Russian plane we lost contact with is safe and that it has contacted Turkish air traffic control and is passing through Turkish skies now,” Ayman al-Muqaddam said in a statement.
