Medina, July 4: A blast took place outside the Prophet’s Mosque (Al Masjid-e-Nabwi) in Medina, one of the holy sites of Islam. Some news reports suggest that it was a ‘suicide bombing’ near the parking area on Monday evening but there are no official comments made by the authority. There are multiple videos flooding on social media showing car burning near the parking area. As police officials had cordoned the area, hundreds of onlookers filmed footage on their smartphones. The mosque is a burial place where Prophet Mohammed and two of his companions are buried. It is the second holiest place after Makkah (Mecca). On Monday evening, at least one explosion was heard near the Qatif city, eastern part of Saudi Arabia. A witness quoted by AFP said, “Suicide bomber for sure. I can see the body” torn apart. Nasima al-Sada, another resident, told AFP that “one bomber blew himself up near the mosque”, frequented by Shia Muslims in downtown Qatif, on the Gulf coast.
