Saudi Arabia is currently experiencing a significant shift in weather, with heavy rainfall causing flood-like conditions in several regions. The country’s National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has issued an alert, warning that this spell of intense weather will continue until Thursday, February 20. During this period, many areas are expected to witness strong winds, hailstorms, and heavy downpours.

Even the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, deeply significant to Muslims worldwide, are likely to be impacted by turbulent weather, including strong winds, hail, and the risk of flooding.

According to a Gulf News report, the Saudi weather department has predicted rain for the next three days in several parts of the country, including Riyadh, Hail, Al Qassim, the Eastern Province, Northern Borders, Makkah, and Madinah. Other affected areas include Taif, Maysan, Adham, Al Ardiyat, Al Muwayh, Khurma, Ranyah, Turubah, Bahrah, Al Jumum, Khulais, and Al Kamil.

Additionally, there is a chance of snowfall in some regions, which could lead to a sudden drop in temperatures. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions and stay updated with weather advisories.

Advisory Issued

Some parts of Saudi Arabia may experience stormy conditions with strong winds, prompting authorities to urge residents to stay indoors. The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a high-wind alert for Jeddah, Shuaiba, and Al Lith, where wind speeds could reach 40-49 km/h. These conditions may lead to reduced visibility and rough seas, potentially disrupting maritime activities.

NCM has advised citizens and residents to stay updated on weather conditions, follow official instructions, and check forecasts before heading outdoors.

Additionally, special alerts have been issued for certain regions, warning people to avoid flood-prone areas and remain cautious. Residents, especially in low-lying areas, have been advised to stay away from potentially hazardous zones and rely on official sources for safety updates. The extreme weather has already started impacting daily life in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s change in weather

Saudi Arabia is generally known for its dry climate with minimal rainfall, but in recent times, the country has faced frequent heavy downpours and flooding.

Experts believe this shift in weather patterns is a result of climate change, leading to unpredictable conditions. Meanwhile, some people associate these changes with the prophecy of the Prophet Muhammad, which foretells greener landscapes in Saudi Arabia before the end of times.
