A senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkmenistan K.K. Ahsan Vagan has been deported from the US.

Since taking oath as the US President, Donald Trump has been adopting a very strict stance regarding immigration rules. Meanwhile, the Pakistani ambassador to Turkmenistan was not allowed to enter the US and has been sent back.

According to a report in India Today, a senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan K.K. Ahsan Vagan has been deported from the US. He was sent back after US officials asked him to leave the country due to immigration objections.

Pakistan government’s stance

Ambassador KK Ahsan Wagan had a valid US visa and all the necessary documents and was reportedly going to Los Angeles on a private visit. But US immigration officials stopped him at the airport and he was then deported.

However, after this move of the US administration, questions are now being raised about diplomatic protocol. Taking this incident seriously, it is being expected that the Pakistan government may soon call Ambassador Wagan back to Islamabad.

Foreign Ministry orders inquiry

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch have been informed about the incident. The Foreign Ministry has directed the Pakistani Consulate in Los Angeles to investigate the matter.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan K.K. Ahsan Wagan has been associated with the Pakistan Foreign Service for a long time. During his career, he has served as Second Secretary at the Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu. Apart from this, he has also served as Deputy Consul General at the Pakistani Consulate in Los Angeles, Ambassador of Pakistan in Muscat and the Pakistani Embassy in Niger.
