Hamburg, July 8: US President Donald Trump called for action against North Korea as he met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday at the sidelines of G 20 summit. Today, US President Donald Trump told Xi Jinping that something must be done about North Korea, reported news agency ANI. The two leaders also discussed North Korea’s ballistic missile and nuclear program.
In Hamburg, Trump, as per a report flushed out by Star Tribune, called North Korea a country of “problem and menace”. Besides this, Trump also discussed North Korea’s nuclear program with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. According to Reuters, Abe told Trump that environment in Asia Pacific region which includes North Korea has become very severe due to its ballistic missile and nuclear program. The Japanese PM wants to show the bonds between US and Japan on the issue.
Earlier, White House had warned North Korea to be careful of its actions or face severe consequences. Kim Jong-un-led North Korea had earlier carried out a successful test launch of an ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) that is able to carry nuclear warhead attack to the US.
Just recently, Trump tweeted, “Trade between China and North Korea grew almost 40% in the first quarter. So much for China working with us – but we had to give it a try!” The demonstration of strength between the US and North Korea has been going on for a while.
In the month of May, North Korea test-fired a short-range ballistic missile which landed about 200 nautical miles off the Japanese coast. This act triggered anger in Japan PM Shinzo Abe who labelled the provocation ‘absolutely unacceptable’. This came after the US in April launched an unarmed ballistic missile from California. The missile was launched by US Air Force from Vandenberg Air Force Base. As per the officer leading the charge of the test called the launch of the ballistic missile a keen demonstration of nation’s nuclear deterrent capability.
