Manila, Sep 24: A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern Philippines early today but there was no threat of a tsunami, US seismologists said.
The offshore quake hit at 6:53 AM (local time) and was centred around 100 kilometres southeast of the city of Davao on the island of Mindanao, according to the US Geological Survey. (ALSO READ: Quake in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo kills 2)
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said there was no tsunami threat from the strong quake.
