The shooting occurred at a Rite Aid distribution Centre. Rite Aid spokeswoman Susan Henderson later said, “What I understand is the location is secure. Roughly 1,000 employees work there.” She added, “The distribution centre is where products are received and processed for delivery…This is a part of a large facility that is a distribution centre. The shooting happened adjacent to the primary building.”
Police personnel were dispatched to the scene at 9.09 AM (local time), tweeted the sheriff’s office. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives sent agents from Baltimore to the scene. The FBI’s Baltimore office is also assisting in the investigation, said reports.
People are being asked to avoid the area just outside the city of Perryman. The attack has come nearly three months after a man armed with a shotgun attacked a newspaper office in Annapolis, Maryland, killing five staff members.
