Three Indian women from Gujarat, identified as Rekhaben Patel, Sangitaben Patel, and Manishaben Patel, met a tragic end in a devastating car accident in Greenville County, South Carolina. The SUV they were traveling in was speeding, crossed all lanes, ascended an embankment, and flew up to 20 feet in the air before colliding with trees on the opposite side. The vehicle was found shattered into pieces, indicating a significant speed violation.
As per Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis the excessive speed of the SUV led to the fatal crash. The vehicle, heading north on Interstate 85, abruptly veered off the road, traversing four lanes before crashing. The coroner’s office, in collaboration with various agencies, is probing the speed factor during the accident.
“It is obvious they were traveling above the posted speed limit,” Chief Deputy Coroner Ellis told news channel WSPA. He also clarified that no other cars were involved. “Very seldom do you see a vehicle that leaves the roadway at such a high rate of speed that it jumps 4-6 lanes of traffic and lands in the trees approximately 20 feet,” Ellis said, describing the unprecedented accident.
“Right now, it appears the vehicle is on its wheels, but when the vehicle jumped all four lanes of traffic, it probably struck trees at least 20 feet above the ground,” he told local media.
Immediate responses from emergency units, including the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Gannt Fire and Rescue, and multiple Greenville County EMS units, underscore the severity of the incident.
The lone survivor of the crash was reported to have sustained injuries and was hospitalized, with their condition remaining unclear. The vehicle’s detection system alerted some family members to the accident, who then notified local authorities in South Carolina.
In a separate incident, two Indian students from Telangana were killed in a head-on collision in Arizona. Nivesh Mukka, 19, and Goutham Parsi, 19, both international students at Arizona State University, lost their lives in the accident. The driver of their vehicle sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
Nivesh Mukka hailed from Huzurabad town in Karimnagar district, while Goutham Kumar was from Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district. Both were studying computer science engineering at the university and were returning home with friends when the fatal collision occurred.
