Trump Gaza Peace Plan: US President Donald Trump’s peace proposal to end the Israel-Gaza war has sparked a political crisis in the Arab-Muslim world as a large section of Muslims in these countries have expressed their anger and disapproval of Islamic nations like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia approving Trump’s Gaza plan.

Why Muslims are angry at Pakistan and Arab nations?

According to reports, a significant portion of Muslims in the Arab world and beyond believe that Pakistan and Arab nations like Saudi Arabia and Qatar have “betrayed” the Palestinian cause, because Trump’s Gaza peace plan lacks a proper roadmap for Palestinian statehood, and mandates the complete disarmament of Hamas, which they believe would strip Palestine of any security cover in a future Israeli attack, even if current crisis is resolved temporarily.

Many have dubbed Pakistan and Arab world as ‘traitors of the Muslim Ummah’, accusing these countries of “betrayal” of fellow Muslims and “turning their back” on the people of Palestine.

Notably, Donald Trump’s plan includes the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, consisting of troops from 20 Muslim countries. Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country, has offered to send 20,000 troops, while Pakistan has also hinted at being part of the Gaza peacekeeping force.

What is Trump’s Gaza peace plan?

On Monday, during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, US President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the Israel-Gaza war, under which Gaza Strip is to be temporarily governed by a Palestinian technocratic government, with no role for Hamas, and Israel will not annex Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.

The plan mandates Hamas to release all Israeli hostages and return the mortal remains of 20 others who are presumed dead. Adam Boehler, the US presidential envoy for captive affairs, has asked Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal to accept the 20-point plan put forward by Trump, describing it as a deal where “everyone wins.”

Trump’s plan also calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip followed by a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the region, and the complete disarmament of Hamas.

But hours after the peace plan was announced, Netanyahu declared that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will not withdraw from Gaza, and Tel Aviv would not recognize Palestinian statehood under any condition.
