New Delhi: The peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have now been put aside, and both countries are demonstrating their military power to each other. While Russia does not let the cities of Ukraine sleep at night with its drones and missiles, Ukraine is surprising Russia with its low-cost weapons.

Russian bridges blown up

Once again, the Ukrainian army has claimed that its two cheap drones have blown up Russia’s expensive bridges. This action was taken based on intelligence inputs. However, the most interesting part is that Ukraine did not even use its own weapons to inflict this damage on Russia.

Use of FPV drones

The Russian army used these bridges along the border of the Kharkiv area to supply logistics to the soldiers, so this is a big blow for them. This operation was carried out by Ukraine’s 58th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade. According to CNN’s report, Ukraine used very cheap first-person-view drones (FPV Drones), which were equipped with fibre optics.

Russia’s world-famous S-400 air defence system failed to intercept the drones.

Ukraine blows up Russian bridges using its own weapons

Ukraine is using different tactics in this war. According to Ukrainian officials, Russia had hidden a huge pile of anti-tank mines and ammunition under the bridge. As soon as Ukrainian forces saw this through the FPV drone, they launched an attack. This attack took place in the Belgorod area. After the first explosion, the Ukrainian army also inspected the second bridge, and as soon as they found mines, they destroyed it too.

These mines were laid by Russia for the Ukrainian soldiers, which would have blown them up if they moved forward, but here, their weapons and plan backfired.

Ukrainian drone costs only $600

Ever since Ukraine started facing a shortage of expensive weapons to fight this war, it has turned its attention towards modifying old weapons and making drones. Some private companies are also engaged in making drones, which cost only 600-700 dollars. In such a situation, Ukraine’s loss is reduced. This time also the drones used were priced between 600 and 725 dollars, i.e. at the most up to 53000 rupees.

Usually, ballistic missiles are used to blow up bridges, which cost at least Rs 25-30 crore. Ukraine has once again proved by causing huge damage to Russia with cheap drones that wars will now be fought not just with money but with technology and strategy.

India’s ‘Sudarshan Chakra’

This development will have a direct ramification on India’s ambitious ‘Sudarshan Chakra’, termed India’s own ‘Iron Dome’ by CDS General Anil Chauhan, after its success during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Sudarshan Chakra is India’s name for the Russian-made S-400, a sophisticated long-range surface-to-air missile system designed to detect, track, and destroy aerial threats like drones, aircraft, and missiles.
