US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon shuts down; Only emergency staff will stay

The US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, confirmed that it would close down.
New Delhi: As the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran continues to intensify since it started on Saturday, February 28, the United States has started calling back the non-essential diplomatic staff and their families out of several Middle Eastern countries. Apart from that, the US has also suspended or limited operations at many embassies across the region, citing growing security threats.
The countries where the US State Department asked non-emergency personnel to leave are Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, and Kuwait, as the officials described the move as a precautionary step in response to escalating violence and threats targeting American facilities.
As a precautionary measure, some US diplomatic missions have either temporarily closed or shifted to emergency-only services.
The US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, confirmed that it would close down on Tuesday, 03 March 2026, as it issued a notice which reads, "The US Embassy in Beirut will be closed on March 3."
