New Delhi, April 8: One person was reportedly killed and several firefighters were left injured after a massive fire broke out on the 50th floor of Trump Tower in the New York City. The incident took place on Saturday at around 6 PM (local time). A team of firefighters was rushed to the location to douse the blaze after huge flames and massive smoke were seen billowing out from the building.
The 67-year-old deceased was a resident of the building’s 50th floor who had been taken to the hospital in critical condition, department spokeswoman Angelica Conroy told CNN. He was reporteldy was unconscious and unresponsive when firefighters had rescued him.
According to a witness, it started with a smoke which soon turned into a blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and no members of President Donald Trump’s family were at the tower during the blaze, Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, United States President Donald Trump informed that the situation has been brought under control. “Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well-built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!” Trump tweeted.
As per a report of CNN, this mishap came nearly three months after a minor fire broke out in a cooling tower on the roof of the building.
