US House Passes Funding Plan to End Government Shutdown

New Delhi: The US House of Representatives, where Democrats now hold a majority  passed a legislation that would end the partial government shutdown amid a veto threat from the White House. As per Xinhua news agency, the bills were passed late on Thursday

If reports are to be believed, under the bill, the departments of State, Commerce, Agriculture, Labor, Treasury and other agencies would be funded through Sept. 30, the end of the current fiscal year.

On December 22, 2018,  the United States called out for a partial government shutdown after the House and the US Senate adjourned without Congress passing a spending deal. Several federal agencies ceased operations starting Saturday 12:00 AM as the White House and congressional leaders failed to make a deal on spending.
