Moscow, Dec 25: Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered an inquiry to investigate the Russian military plane, which crashed on Sunday in Black Sea, leaving all 91 passengers dead, including nine journalists. The bodies of passengers were recovered on the coast.
As of now, the Russian government has not hinted any possible causes of crash. According to Russian Defence, since 1983 the aircraft was operating and had flown for around 7,000 hours since then. The plane was repaired in December 2014 and was serviced in September. Tu-154 aircraft’s have been involved in many accidents in the past. Investigators are looking into all matters .
Among the passengers in plane were; Russian servicemen, army’s musical group. This group was heading to Syria to participate in the New Year celebrations at the Russian airbase.
The Russian military plane on Sunday crashed in the Black Sea shortly after taking off from the southern city of Adler where it had been refuelling. As per report by Russian Defence Ministry, fragments of the aircraft were found 1.5 kilometres from the Black Sea coast of the city of Sochi at a depth of 50 to 70 metres.
Tu-154 is a three-engine medium-range airliner produced by Russian aerospace and defence company Tupolev.
