Cardiff, June 9: Results of Wales general election 2017 would be declared shortly. The 40 seats of the region went into polls along with other constituencies in the United Kingdom on Thursday. The counting of votes was scheduled to begin after the conclusion of polls at 10 PM (local time). Find below the list of constituency-wise results of Wales.
Wales, considered to be a Labour bastion, expressed defiance towards the archaic party in the past year’s assembly elections. The Jeremy Corbyn-led outfit failed to secure a majority, due to the unprecedented mark left by regional party – Plaid Cymru, winning 26 seats.
However, the grassroot workers of Labour have taken strenous efforts over the past year to reclaim the support base of the party. As per the latest opinion polls ahead of the elections, Labour was poised to secure 46 per cent of the vote share in Wales, whereas, the Conservatives were reeling at 30 per cent.
In the 2015 general elections in Wales, Labour had emerged as the single largest party, winning 26 seats. It was followed by Conservatives, which had bagged 11. The Plaid Cymru won 3 seats, whereas, only 1 was secured by the Liberal Democrats.

The results in Wales is credited to the charismatic campaign led by Jeremy Corbyn on behalf of Labour party in the region. The mandate of Wales proved to be essential in the resurgence of Labour, as compared to their 2015 poll rout.
