Multi-millionaire Ramaswamy protest against Biden's remarks on Trump supporters by picking up trash

New York: In a protest against US President Joe Biden’s recent comment calling republican supporters “garbage”, the Pharmaceutical multi millionaire Vivek Ramaswamy has taken to the streets in Charlotte, North Carolina, joining a garbage truck crew to pick up trash. Ramaswamy, who initially ran for the Republican party’s presidential nomination but dropped out to support former president Donald Trump, suited up in a yellow trash collector’s vest over a t-shirt featuring an Oscar the Grouch, a children’s cartoon character who lives in a garbage can. He took a crash course from the trash collectors on how to operate the truck’s compactor and went to work.

Taking on X (formerly Twitter), Ramaswamy posted a video of himself at work on Thursday, stating, “We’re not garbage, we’re patriots recycling the American Dream.”

“Proud to be rolling up in a garbage truck to a Trump campaign event in North Carolina shortly. Going to clean up some actual trash on the streets first,” he wrote.

This protest was in response to President Joe Biden’s remarks on the republican supporters, in which he stated, “The only garbage I see floating out there is his (Trump’s) supporters. His demonisation of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American”. This comment was triggered by a joke from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at the Madison Square Garden rally, where Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as “literally a floating island of garbage.” The Caribbean island is a U.S. territory with a Spanish-speaking Latino population.

Trump, also arrived at the rally in a trash collector’s vest after riding on a garbage truck, However, in an interview with the New York Post, Ramaswamy acknowledged that he and Trump arrived on private planes but insisted, “I don’t care whether you’re, you know, the owner of a private jet or the operator or driver of a dump truck. We’re all equal as Americans, as fellow citizens. And I think that’s what our side sees versus the Democratic side.”
