He said, “We are closely watching India’s weapons purchases… this is not only a risk to Pakistan’s security but also to regional stability.” He added that Pakistan has been raising this issue with its allies and criticized the international community for ignoring India’s rush to expand its military capabilities.

Pakistan worried after India tested Agni-5 missile

Pakistan has expressed concern after India successfully tested its Agni-5 missile. Pakistan said the test shows that India is increasing its military capabilities, which poses a growing threat not just to the region but beyond.

A Pakistani official, Khan, said the missile test seriously weakens peace, security, and strategic stability at both regional and global levels.

India conducted the successful test of the medium-range ballistic missile Agni-5 on Wednesday. The Defence Ministry said the test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, and the missile met all operational and technical requirements.

Why is Pakistan worried about Agni-5?

According to media reports quoting defence sources on March 11, 2024, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) had already tested the Agni-5 missile using MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle) technology from the same test range.

As per officials, the entire test was closely tracked using different radar stations and telemetry centers, and the missile met all set parameters.

The Agni-5 missile can reach an altitude of up to 600 km and has a strike range of around 5,000 km. This means it can easily target not just Pakistan but also every corner of China, which makes it a significant strategic asset for India.
