Islamabad: Pakistan’s army has started blackmailing its all-weather friend China. The Pakistan Army has told China that it will have to provide it a second-strike nuclear capability if it wants to take over Gwadar port. This demand has enraged China as talks between the two countries about this port have stopped.
If the Pakistani army had this capability, it would have increased its nuclear power manifold and it would have posed a great threat to India’s security. China’s army is making Gwadar a naval base and for this, it has invested billions of dollars in the name of CPEC. At the same time, the Pakistani army has started blackmailing China to take advantage of this compulsion.
Drop Site News, a website that closely monitors Pakistan’s affairs, has revealed this move of the Pakistani army. This dialogue of the Pakistani Army with China has stopped at a time when there is tension between Pakistan and India. Pakistan’s economy is going through a bad phase, but the Pakistani army remains firm on the nuclear plan.
This has hurt the relationship between China and Pakistani army. Pakistan also does not want China to build its military base in Gwadar. Earlier this year, talks were held between the two to build a military base in Gwadar. According to intelligence documents of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan had assured China that Gwadar would be allowed to be developed as a military base of China.
The Pakistani army has now said that giving the strategically important Gwadar port to China can provoke Western countries and in such a situation, China will have to give financial help and second-strike nuclear capability. At the same time, military technology will have to be provided to match up with India.
This demand of Pakistan has made China furious as second-strike nuclear capability is a very effective military deterrence which is necessary for retaliation in the event of a nuclear attack. This ability is advantageous because during the war, any enemy country is afraid to try to win it by first launching a nuclear attack. The enemy country fears that it may have to face a retaliatory nuclear attack. This second-strike nuclear strike is carried out with missiles inside nuclear-armed submarines or silos. Both of these cannot be easily eliminated.
Pakistan fears that India can destroy its nuclear facilities by first attacking it. For this reason, the Pakistani army wants China to help it get the strength to retaliate using second-strike nuclear capability.
