World’s most expensive fighter jets: Fighter jets are one of the biggest assets of a nation during air combat. You must have heard about many popular fighter jets of the world including the F-16 fighters jets of US, Rafale fighter jets of France and India and the J-20 jets of China. However, do you know which countries in the world have the world’s most expensive fighter jets and what are their manufacturing costs. We all know the fact that fighter jets are very crucial to national defense. Moreover, the recent conflicts have prompted countries to expand and modernize their air fleets. Talking about the most expensive fighter jets, the United States leads the list with the F-22 Raptor, called by many experts as the world’s most expensive fighter jet. Built by Lockheed Martin, the F-22 Raptor costs around $334 million (Rs 2,800 crore) including R&D. Designed for air superiority and features superfast performance and stealth technology, the aircraft is called one of the best in the world.
In the rank of fighter jets, France’s Dassault Rafale ranks second. Costing about $125 million (₹1,050 crore) per unit, the Rafale is a multi-role jet capable of both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
The third aircraft in the list is the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet of Europe. Made through a joint project of top European countries like the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain, the European fighter jet is known for its speed, agility, and multi-role capability across the world with a cost around $117 million (Rs 985 crore),
Priced at $110 million (Rs 925 crore), China’s J-20 fighter jet is the nation’s first fifth-generation stealth jet, thus keeping it among the priciest jets globally.
Last but not the least, the Sukhoi Su-57 of Russia features stealth, advanced avionics, and supercruise engines, costing $100 million (Rs 840 crore), making it one of the costliest aircrafts in the world.
