Honda will soon launch its 500cc motorcycle lineup in India. The list includes the CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X and Rebel 500. Of this list, the Rebel 500 is a mid-size cruiser and when launched in India could be the only mid-capacity cruiser available in India.

The Rebel 500 produces 45.5 PS maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 44.6 Nm of peak torque delivered at 6,000 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch as standard. It is powered by a 471 cc parallel twin-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine.

Interestingly, Honda is expected to position the Rebel 500 between the Royal Enfield 650 Twins and the Harley-Davidson Street 750.

The Honda Rebel 500 draws our attention the most as it has already been rumoured for launch several times over the past. It could be priced under Rs. 4.75 lakh (ex-showroom) initially and might attract customers wanting to own a premium cruiser from Honda that they have not had a chance yet.

When Honda will localise the motorcycle, one can expect the price to go down to around Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh. It is also already Euro 5 compliant, so it will comply with the upcoming BS6 emission norms when it comes to India as well.

The bike comes equipped with a low-slung tubular frame, a 41mm telescopic fork and twin rear shocks from Showa. Its braking setup comprises a single 296mm disc up front and a single disc at the rear. Its 16-inch tyres come wrapped in a 130/90-section front and 150/80-section rear tyre.

The entire package weighs in at 191kg kerb. The Rebel 500 is available in four colours overseas: Matte Jeans Blue Metallic, Graphite Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Millennium Red. If it makes it to India, expect the bike to garner a price of around Rs 4.5 lakh ex-showroom, taking on the Kawasaki Vulcan and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
