Mahindra and Mahindra, homegrown utility giant today launched the much awaited sub 4-metre SUV, NuvoSport in the Indian car market at an introductory price of INR 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom Thane). It is the facelift version of Quanto SUV that is positioned between KUV100 and TUV300. The bookings for the sub 4-metre SUV have already commenced with a token amount of INR 10,000.The Mahindra NuvoSport comes with 7-seat layout which is similar to the outgoing model. The facelifted version is available in 6 different variants– N4, N4+, N6, N6 AMT, N8 and N8 AMT. As far as the safety is concerned, this compact SUV is packed with standard driver airbag and comes with optional first passenger airbag as well as ABS with EBD. The SUV is equipped with a 1.5-litre mHawk100 diesel engine that comes with two driving modes – Power and Economy. In the power mode, the engine churns out 100bhp of power @ 3750 rpm and 240Nm of torque while in the economy mode, the engine is capable of producing 71.6bhp of power along with 180Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual and an optional 5-speed AMT gearbox that transmits power to front wheels.As far as the competition is concerned, the facelift of compact SUV locks horns with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
