Maruti Suzuki Ignis Photo Gallery: Delhi Auto Expo 2016

Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker will unveil its smallest crossover- the Ignis at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Instead of the production model, the company will showcase the concept car to audience. Likely to go on sale by the festive season 2016, the Ignis crossover will rival against the likes of the Mahindra KUV100, Datsun GO Cross and the B-segment hatchbacks including Hyundai Grand i10 and Chevrolet Beat. It is expected to be priced in the range of INR 4 lakh to INR 6 lakh. Unlike Vitara Brezza, the compact crossover will be sold through Maruti's premium dealerships- NEXA. The new Maruti Ignis is based on Suzuki's new generation platform that also underpins the new Baleno premium hatchback. The vehicle looks largely identical to the iM-4 concept, which was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Dimensionally, the compact crossover is 3,679mm in length, 1,579mm in width and 1,478mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,438mm. While the global model is available with two petrol engine- 1.2-litre Dualjet with SHVS and 1.0-litre Boosterjet, the India-spec model will be offered with both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol engine could be a 1.2-litre K-Series unit, the oil burner is likely to be a 1.3L MJD motor. However, the company could also opt for smaller 0.8-litre twin-cylinder unit that also powers the Celerio hatchback. Transmission options are likely to include a five-speed manual and an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) unit.
