Cinema has to be a visual representation of the world we are living in. No story can exist in a vacuum and one of the most important part of a filmmaker's job is to narrate stories that are relevant and relatable. How can the society work in the absence of the cinema that acts as a voice for the oppressed and as a tool for those fighting against the system. While equality, gender rights, and violence are a few subjects that films have tried to successfully dealt with, marital rape is still something which remains largely untouched by the filmmakers in our country.
