Legendary music composer Khayyam passed away due to a heart attack on Monday, August 20. He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for the last few days. However, his condition was critical and he was kept in ICU. The last rites of the celebrated musician will take place today in Mumbai.
Khayyam Saab was a respected figure in the industry and was loved by many, especially the people from the Hindi music industry. His mortals were kept at his home at his home in Dakshina Park Society, where several celebrities arrived to pay their last respects.
Sonu Nigam, Kiran Karmarkar, Alka Yagnik, Gulzar Saab, Vishal Bharadwaj, Raza Murad, Talat Aziz and Ashoke Pandit among others were clicked outside the building.
On Monday, when the news of Khayyam's death broke in, singer Lata Mangeshkar was one of the first people to expressed the grief. She took to Twitter to remember her 'brother' Khayyam and revealed that she has fond memories of the singer.
Even PM Narendra Modi expressed his grief on social media and talked about Khayyam's humanitarian works. A state funeral has been accorded to the great musician who was popular for curating music of films like Umrao Jaan and Kabhi Kabhie.
He was not just known as the great music composer, but also as a humanitarian. Khayyam Sahab was known as a kind soul in the industry for his contributions to society. He made a trust that donates Rs 1.5 lakh out of his earnings to cine workers every year for their welfare.
The plan has been designed in such a way that the trust will keep functioning and donating the same amount every year even after his demise.
Khayyam was one of the first notable personalities who donated for the welfare of the families of the martyred after Pulwama attack in February this year. He had also been an active contributor in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and other charitable trusts and associations. May his soul rests in peace!
