Amid the massive buzz around Dhurandhar: The Revenge, a heartwarming and unexpected story has caught everyone’s attention — not about a star, but about a government doctor from Punjab who ended up in the film. What started as a routine medical check during a shoot turned into a once-in-a-lifetime Bollywood moment for Dr Sunny Ashok. Here’s how it all happened.
While Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues to dominate conversations for its action and performances, a real-life story from the sets is now going viral. A government doctor from Punjab, who was present purely for medical assistance, unexpectedly became part of the film. His brief appearance alongside Ranveer Singh has now become a talking point, proving that sometimes, reality creates its own cinematic moments.
Dr Sunny Ashok is a medical officer posted at a government health facility in Kalakh village near Ludhiana, Punjab. Known locally for his dedication to public healthcare, he never had any connection to films or acting. However, fate had different plans when a major Bollywood shoot took place near his area, bringing him unexpectedly into the spotlight.
The turning point came during a shoot involving Arjun Rampal near a railway track in Ludhiana. During a chase sequence, the actor reportedly sustained a minor head injury, creating panic on set. Dr Ashok was called in to assess the situation. Fortunately, the injury was not serious, and his timely presence ensured everything remained under control.
A few days later, during another shoot schedule at Shahnewal Airport, Dr Ashok visited the set again. Like any fan, he requested a photo with Ranveer Singh. In his signature playful style, Ranveer jokingly said, “Why just a photo? We’ll take you in the film.” What sounded like a casual remark soon turned into reality.
Dr Ashok’s scene was completed in a single take. According to him, the director appreciated his natural performance, especially the fact that he behaved exactly like a real doctor and did not look at the camera. Though the scene lasted only a few seconds, it added a layer of realism to the film and became a memorable moment for him.
Director Aditya Dhar was working on a scene that required a realistic medical interaction as Ranveer Singh’s character appeared injured. Instead of casting an actor, the team decided to use Dr Ashok himself for authenticity. With no prior acting experience, he stepped in and performed the role naturally.
After the film’s release, clips of the scene started circulating on WhatsApp and social media. Soon, people in his village, colleagues, and even strangers began recognising him. The response has been overwhelming, turning a simple doctor into a viral sensation — all because of one unexpected opportunity.
Interestingly, Dr Ashok’s connection to cinema isn’t entirely new. His father, Dr Devinder Ashok, reportedly shared a close friendship with veteran actor Dharmendra. While Dr Sunny Ashok never planned a film debut, this unexpected cameo has now become a proud and unforgettable chapter in his life.
