Even Bollywood has realised the women power over the year which is why, in place of make heroes now female actors are the protagonist in lead roles of the movie. After Queen, Kangana portrayed another character in a women centric movie where she plays a widow and kleptomaniac and rest surrounds her character. She has shades of grey that are such a welcome change.
The best female-centric film of the year is, however, Lipstick Under My Burkha. The film focuses on four women, their sexuality, and how they struggle to survive in a patriarchal society. Alankrita Shrivastava’s film received rave reviews from progressive audience and it was honoured with several awards at international film festivals.

Vidya in ‘Begum Jaan’ was seen playing Begum Jaan, who is a madam of a brothel through which the line of the partition passes, rendering half the brothel to Hindustan and half to Pakistan. Apart from the great performance of the girls in the movie, the content of this film was very heavy.
