How To Apply For Passport Online: A Step-By-Step Guide

Passport is an important document required mostly for travelling abroad and in the past few years, applying for a passport has become easier and hassle-free. The time taken for the completion of the process and time taken for the applicant to receive the passport has also reduced. All it required one to register on the Passport Seva portal and follow a few simple steps. The online experience is seamless, though you will need to visit the Passport Seva Kendra or a Regional Passport Office physically to complete the process after taking an appointment online.

Applicants are advised to wear a mask, carry a sanitiser, download and install Aarogya Setu app, and follow social distancing norms during their visit.

Online Payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all PSK/POPSK/PO. Online Payment can be made using any one of the following modes. Credit/Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa), Internet Banking (State Bank of India (SBI) Associate Banks and Other Banks), SBI Bank Challan

Carrying printout of Application Receipt is no longer required. An SMS with your appointment details is also accepted as proof of appointment during your visit to Passport Office.

Only emergency/medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer.
