The Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of approximately 270 kilometers between Jammu Tawi and Srinagar by traversing some of the world's highest railway bridges and longest tunnels.
The Vande Bharat Express will take just 4 hours and 50 minutes to reach Srinagar from Jammu Tawi. Previously, this journey took 7 to 8 hours by road.
The most significant feature of this train is that it will also make a stop at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) station. This offers immense relief to devotees who wish to visit Kashmir after paying their respects at the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.
The Vande Bharat Express train will primarily make stops at three stations. They are, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK), Reasi, and Banihal.
A total of four services, constituting two pairs of trains, will operate between Jammu Tawi and Srinagar. Train Number 26401/26402 will operate on all days of the week except Tuesdays, while Train Number 26404/26403 will run on all days of the week, except Wednesdays.
The first train of the morning will depart from Jammu Tawi at 6:20 AM and arrive in Srinagar at 11:10 AM; on its return journey, it will depart from Srinagar at 2:00 PM and reach Jammu at 6:50 PM. The second Vande Bharat Express will depart from Srinagar at 8:00 AM and arrive in Jammu at 12:40 PM; on its return journey, it will depart from Jammu at 1:20 PM and reach Srinagar at 6:00 PM.
The Vande Bharat Express comprises a total of 20 coaches. These coaches are of two types: AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. The fare for the AC Chair Car (CC) will be approximately Rs 715, while the fare for the Executive Chair Car (EC) will range between Rs 1,320 and Rs 1,515.
