How many LPG cylinders can be filled with arrival of new vessels from Strait of Hormuz?

As the conflict in the Middle East has affected operations in the Strait of Hormuz, the arrival of Indian vessels, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, is a big relief. The vessels carrying 92,700 metric tonnes of LPG may help in filling almost 65,218,169 cylinders. If you want to know how, we have simplified the calculations ahead.

Over 65,00,000 LPG cylinders

As one metric tonne consists of 1,000 kilograms. The 92,700 metric tonnes of LPG becomes 92,700,000 kilograms (from the vessels reaching India). The LPG in one cylinder is almost 14.2 kilograms. Hence, the number of cylinders that can be filled can be calculated by dividing the total LPG in kilograms by the amount of LPG one cylinder carries. This puts the total number of cylinders at 6,528,169, i.e., nearly 65.3 lakh cylinders.
