Amid the ongoing LPG crisis in the country, name change in LPG records is being requested by various users but many of them don't know the actual process.

More notably, correcting name is important to avoid duplication and prevent misuse of LPG subsidy.

The procedure for name change is almost same for Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum

LPG users are required to fill the ‘Annexure E’ transfer form for a name change.

Readers should note that correct name, address and personal details must be registered with the gas provider to ensure subsidy benefits reach the right consumer.

The change can be done by submitting the required form to the LPG distributor.

In case of death of the connection holder or regularization without a subscription voucher

The legal heir must submit KYC documents, a death certificate or affidavit, and other required documents.

LPG connection can also be transferred outside the family or without transferor consent

The transferee must fill the required form and submit the necessary documents.

Transfer to a family member (father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter) is allowed

Both the transferor and transferee must submit a signed declaration along with identity and address proof.

It should be noted that earlier, LPG consumers were recorded in non-centralized registries but now, the situation has changed.

Now consumers must keep their KYC and DGCC booklet updated according to the new rules.
