In view of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, various parts of our country have witnessed a shortage of LPG cylinders in the past days. In some regions, restaurants and other food-selling businesses have closed due to supply disruptions caused by the limited number of LPG cylinders. Many households have also had difficulties ordering and receiving their LPG cylinders regularly which creates a significant inconvenience.

How migrant workers can easily access 5kg LPG cylinders

Migrant workers with a valid government-issued ID can go to an LPG distributor and register for a 5 kg cylinder of FTL (Free Trade LPG). With the registration process complete, migrant workers can easily receive their 5 kg FTL cylinder. Due to the current LPG shortages, the 5 kg FTL cylinder is becoming more popular among migrant workers.

What documents are needed to get a 5kg FTL LPG cylinder?

If you are a migrant worker and have any valid government ID, you can visit an LPG distributor and get yourself registered.

Nearly 30,000 small 5-kg cylinders have been distributed to migrant labourers

Earlier, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing & Oil Refinery), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas stated that nearly 30,000 small 5-kg cylinders have been distributed to migrant labourers. The government maintained that these steps have helped stabilise supply chains and ensure the availability of essential fuels across the country. "Around 30,000 small (5 kg) cylinders have also been distributed to migrant workers under the Free Trade LPG (FTL) category," Sharma said, ANI reported.

Is address Proof of address (POA) required for purchase of Chhotu gas cylinder?

According to the Indian Oil's website, no Proof of address (POA) is not required. Customers can avail Chhotu gas cylinders by submitting Govt. recognised Proof of Identity (POI) only.

Where can I get Chhotu gas cylinder?

Chhotu gas cylinder is available in almost every district across the country. You can avail Chhotu from authorized Indane distributor or distributor appointed Point of sales (eg. Kirana store, IndianOil Retail outlets etc.). Please contact your nearest Indane distributor for more details.

LPG refills can be booked after 25 days

As per the existing norms, LPG refills can be booked after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, irrespective of the type of connection. The government also urged citizens not to believe or circulate such misinformation and to avoid unnecessary or panic booking of LPG refills.
