Prices of commercial LPG were hiked by Rs 195.50 on Wednesday, on back of surge in global oil prices linked to the widening West Asia conflict. A 19-kg commercial LPG now costs Rs 2,078.50 in Delhi, according to state-owned oil companies. Rates were last increased by Rs 114.5 per 19-kg cylinder on March 1.

Domestic cooking gas LPG rates, which were last hiked by Rs 60 per 14.2-kg cylinder on March 7, remain unchanged. It costs Rs 913 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi.

Starting April 1, the rates of 5 kg LPG cylinders, commonly known as Chhotu cylinders, have also been increased by Rs 51. This revision has pushed the overall cost of these small cylinders closer to the Rs 700 mark in several regions. Previously, these cylinders were priced at around Rs 649.

Earlier, domestic LPG consumers were required to follow a minimum 21-day gap between two cylinder bookings. This lock-in period was introduced as a temporary measure to manage rising demand during supply concerns. According to the existing norms, LPG refills can be booked after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, irrespective of the type of connection.

All domestic LPG consumers are required to complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (e-KYC). Customers can verify from the comfort of your home using the Oil Marketing Company’s mobile app and Aadhaar FaceRD app. For more information, Visit: https://pmuy.gov.in/e-kyc.html. PMUY consumers who have completed Biometric Aadhaar Authentication once during a financial year are not required to do e-KYC again in that financial year.

In a stricter move, authorities have stated that LPG supply could be discontinued after three months if eligible households do not transition to PNG despite its availability. This step aims to streamline fuel usage and prioritise cleaner, more efficient energy sources across urban regions. The order released on March 24 states that LPG supply "shall cease after three months" if a household does not opt for PNG despite availability.
