From Booking intervals, OTP delivery to LPG price, key updates consumers must know about the LPG gas booking rules.
The Government has implemented several rationalisation measures on both the supply and demand side, including enhancing refinery production, increasing the booking interval from 21 to 25 days in urban areas and up to 45 days in rural areas and prioritising sectors for supply.
From May 1, LPG cylinder delivery will require mandatory authentication through a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC). Customers will no longer be able to receive cylinders using just a physical blue book or receipt. Instead, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number at the time of booking, which must be shared with the delivery agent to complete the process. Approximately 94 per cent of domestic LPG cylinders were delivered through the delivery authentication code as part of a broader government effort to maintain supply chain continuity.
Aadhaar-based biometric authentication is now mandatory for Ujjwala beneficiaries. LPG users with pending eKYC must complete the process, the Ministry said, adding that the rule applies only to those yet to verify.

She also reassured consumers about the adequate availability of essential fuels. She added, “LPG, petroleum and diesel are available in sufficient amounts, and the prices have not increased, so please do not panic."
The government has released public advisory stating that all citizens are advised to avoid panic purchase of petrol, diesel and LPG as the Govt is making all efforts to ensure availability of petrol, diesel and LPG. LPG consumers are requested to use digital booking platforms and avoid visiting distributors. Citizens are encouraged to use alternate fuels such as PNG and electric or induction cooktops.
