Amul on Wednesday hiked milk prices by Rs 2 per litre. This is the second increase in a year, as the Gujarat-based cooperative passed on the higher input costs to consumers. In a statement on Wednesday, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) said it has "increased the prices of fresh pouch milk by Rs 2 per litre in major milk-selling variants/packs across India effective from May 14", as reported by news agency PTI.

In a statement, Mother Dairy stated it has revised the consumer prices of its liquid milk variants by Rs 2 per litre, effective May 14, 2026. "The revision has been necessitated in view of the sustained increase in farmer procurement prices, of around 6 per cent over the past one year, despite continued efforts to limit the impact on consumers," it said. The last price revision was done in late April, 2025.

Petrol and diesel prices were raised by Rs 3 per litre on Friday(May 15) for the first time in more than four years, as surging global crude prices following the Iran war forced state-run fuel retailers to pass on part of their mounting losses after months of holding rates steady through key state elections. Following the latest fuel price hike, petrol prices rose to Rs 97.77 per litre in New Delhi, Rs 108.74 in Kolkata, Rs 106.68 in Mumbai, and Rs 103.67 in Chennai. Meanwhile, diesel prices climbed to Rs 90.67 per litre in Delhi, Rs 95.13 in Kolkata, Rs 93.14 in Mumbai, and Rs 95.25 in Chennai, as per a news agency PTI report. Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices were also raised by Rs 2 per kg in cities including Delhi and Mumbai. CNG in Delhi now costs Rs 79.09 per kg, and in Mumbai it costs Rs 84. However, prices of both natural gas piped into household kitchens for cooking, called piped natural gas, as well as domestic cooking gas LPG, remained unchanged. Global crude prices have surged more than 50 per cent since US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28 and Tehran's retaliation disrupted flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a key artery for global oil shipments, reported news agency PTI.
