‘Learned Difference Between Gale Padna And Gale Lagna’: PM Modi Taunts Rahul Gandhi in Last LS Speech
Addressing the last Lok Sabha session ahead of the general elections in April-May 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a sharp dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his infamous ‘hug and wink’ act in the House last year. “The first time I got to know the difference between gale lagna (hug) and gale padna (throwing yourself at someone) was here in this House. I also learned about aankhon ki gustakhiyan (mischief of eyes),” the Prime Minister said. Rahul Gandhi in July 2018 had mounted an hour-long acrimonious attack on the BJP-led government during a debate on no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, often channeling diatribes at the Prime Minister himself. However, the Congress president concluded his speech on a backhanded affectionate note to the PM, “I have not an iota of hatred or hard feelings against you. You hate me, I may be Pappu for you. But I love you and respect you because I am the Congress.” He then walked over to the Prime Minister and hugged him.
