The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) issued a statement confirming that at least 83 children have been deployed as human bombs by Nigeria's militant Islamist group Boko Haram in the country's northeast region between the month of January and August. 55 of the 83 victims were girls, most often under 15 years old; 27 were boys, and one was a baby strapped to a girl.
Around 70 people were injured after eight coaches of the Kaifiyat Express derailed near Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh during the early hours of Wednesday. The train met with an accident after a loader carrying sand overturned on road parallel to the track in Achhalda area of Auraiya district around 2.45 am.
