A 55-year-old businessman allegedly jumped off the terrace of his six-floor residential complex in upscale Sadashivanagar soon after killing his wife and hurling their dog from the rooftop on Tuesday morning, said a report. The businessman was identified as Atul Upadhya, the CEO of a travel agency named NockNock Analytics located on Nandidurg Road. His wife Mamatha (53) was a homemaker. The couple, who lived with their nephew and a pet dog in a rented flat on the fourth floor of Sycon Polaris, had no children. The incident reportedly took place after Atul’s nephew had gone to college. Upon hearing a loud noise at around 10.30 AM, security guards and housekeepers of the apartment rushed to the main gate to find Atul and his Labrador’s body on the ground.

A leading daily reported that the deceased has been identified as Kallakuri Sambashiva who lived in Vishnupuri Extension in Malkajgiri area. A local firm’s promoter has been arrested for allegedly evading Goods and Services Tax (GST) worth Rs. 88 crore by raising fraudulent invoices, officials said Tuesday. The preventive wing of central GST Ahmedabad-South Commissionerate here busted a racket of issuance of fake invoices wherein huge amount of ineligible input tax credit was fraudulently availed and utilised to evade GST payment, an official statement said. Sandeep Agrawal, Chief Managing Director of M/s Kushal Ltd, was arrested on Monday for availing wrong input tax credit of Rs. 88.78 crore on bogus invoices worth Rs. 672.32 crore without receipt of actual goods, according to the statement. Calls and email to the firm’s office did not elicit any response.
