For Non-Congress, Non-BJP Third Front, KCR Reaches Out to Mamata Banerjee
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday met West Bengal Chief Minster and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee as part of his efforts to float a consortium of regional outfits, sans the Congress and the BJP, ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. “Our dialogue will continue, very shortly we will come out with a concrete plan. We are discussing things. I will continue with my efforts,” said Rao after his meeting with Banerjee in Kolkata. Rao, who announced plans to work towards forging a non-Congress, non-BJP federal front of regional parties, had met his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik on Sunday. He had emphasised a “dire need” for unification of regional parties to provide an alternative to the Congress and the BJP ahead of the 2019 general elections.
