India and Russia signed the crucial US$ 5 billion deal for five S-400 Triumf air missile defence systems on the final day of the 19th annual bilateral summit of the two countries here, said reports. The deal formed a part of the host of bilateral, regional and global issues which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed at Hyderabad House. ANI reported that another deal for space cooperation has been signed. An Indian monitoring station will be built near the Russian city of Novosibirsk in Siberia.

She said that she tried to be diplomatic about it but couldn’t write in a way to please anybody but wrote what she genuinely felt. A SpiceJet flight SG 88 operating from Bangkok to Delhi had to be diverted to Varanasi earlier on Friday owing to a medical emergency on board, said reports. After landing, the passenger was rushed to a hospital by the airline. However, the passenger was declared brought dead by the attending doctors, said the airline. In June, passengers on a Patna-bound SpiceJet flight were stranded overnight in Varanasi after their aircraft, which originated from Delhi, had to land in Varanasi due to bad weather in Patna. Among the chief complaints was the allegation that the passengers were stranded without food at Varanasi.

Two National Conference (NC) workers were killed while another was left injured in a suspected terror attack in Karfalli Mohalla area of Srinagar on Friday. The latest terror attack comes days ahead of the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir local body election. “Two people have been killed, they had some political background, we are ascertaining more details,”SSP, Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray said. Condemning the attack, NC leader Omar Abdullah tweeted,”I cannot condemn strongly enough the murderous terrorist attack against three of my party workers. Nazir Ahmed Bhat (working in the office of MLA Shamima Firdous) & Mushtaq Ahmed Wani have been killed. Allah Jannat naseeb karey.”

An Indian Air Force (IAF) microlight aircraft crashed in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday. Both the pilots ejected safely. The incident comes three days ahead of the Indian Air Force Day celebrations. The plane fell on its nose in a field, claims a report. However, the two pilots on board ejected themselves with the help of parachutes before the aircraft touched the ground. Meanwhile, a Court of Inquiry (CoI) has been ordered to investigate the cause of the incident. Earlier in February, in a similar incident, two IAF pilots were killed when a microlight aircraft they were travelling in crashed in Assam’s Majuli region. The pilots were Wing Commander-rank officers.
