Even as the Supreme Court on Wednesday, stepped one foot closer and dismissed the review petition of Nirbhaya rape convict Akshay Kumar Singh, the Delhi Court has postponed the hearing for death warrant of the four convicts to January 7, 2020.

Seven years after the gruesome Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case in 2012, the Delhi Court on Wednesday refused immediate execution of death sentence to the four accusedas it waits for Supreme Court's order to be officially communicated. The case has now been postponed to January 7, 2020.

Chief Justice of India SA Bobde had on Tuesday recused himself from the hearing of the Nirbhaya case as his nephew had represented Nirbhaya in a court earlier. Subsequently, a new three judge bench was constituted to hear the petition.
