Even before people could overcome the news of Muzarffarnagar derailment accident, Wednesday morning brought in fateful news of Kaifiyat express derailment at Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh. Eight coaches of the train derailed at around 2:50 AM in the morning in which 74 people have been reported to be injured including four critical cases.
The train was travelling from Azamgarh to Delhi and collided with a dumper at around 2:50 AM between Pata and Achhalda railway stations.
One bogie of the train overturned due to impact of collision and some compartments jumped the rails between Acchalda and Pata railway stations after crossing Kanpur.
All passenger trains scheduled to run on Kanpur-Tundla route have been cancelled and more than 40 trains were diverted after Kaifiyat Express derailed.
The trains that have been cancelled include the Kanpur-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, the Lucknow-Agra Cantt. Intercity express, the Lucknow-New Delhi Gomti Express along with all other passenger trains running on the Kanpur-Tundla section.
Railway minister Suresh Prabhu following the accident tweeted in the morning “Some passengers have received Injuries and have been shifted to nearby hospitals. I am personally monitoring situation, rescue operations.”
