IPL 2026 Match No. 21 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals was a nail-biter, as debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain wreaked havoc in the RR camp.
Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma registered an unwanted record during IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals.
Abhishek Sharma became the first Indian batter to record seven ducks in a single calendar year in T20 cricket.
The left-hander fell for a first-ball duck in the IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Abhishek misjudged a short delivery from Jofra Archer and ended up edging it to the fielder at deep third, marking his seventh dismissal without scoring in just 18 innings of 2026.
The record was earlier held by Sanju Samson (2024) and Rohit Sharma (2018), with six ducks in a calendar year, along with Gurkeerat Singh in 2013.
Sanju Samson and Rohit Sharma reached the unwanted record in 32 innings each, while Abhishek surpassed them within just the first four months of the year.
Abhishek also became only the second SRH batter after Shikhar Dhawan to record five T20 ducks in a calendar year, and currently no other batter in 2026 has crossed even five ducks.
Abhishek Sharma has had a decent IPL 2026 season so far as he has scored a total of 129 runs in 5 innings at a strike rate of 215.00. His highest score of 74 came against Punjab Kings.
