Wasim Jaffer, who played from 1996-97 to the present, set a significant milestone by becoming the first batsman in the history of the Ranji Trophy to surpass 11,000 runs. He also holds the record for the most runs in a single season, having accumulated 1,260 runs for Mumbai in the 2008-09 season. Additionally, he remains the only player to have scored over 1,000 runs in a season twice.
Ashutosh Aman, a 32-year-old left-arm spinner from Bihar, broke a 44-year-old record held by Bishan Singh Bedi. Bedi's record of 64 wickets in a season, set in the 1974-75 season, was surpassed by Aman, who took 65 wickets in the 2018-19 season, making it the most wickets by a player in a single season.
Snell Patel, the wicketkeeper-batsman for Saurashtra, made history during the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy final between Saurashtra and Vidarbha. Patel became the first wicketkeeper-opener from outside Mumbai to score a century in the final, setting a unique record for the competition.
Rajneesh Gurbani played a pivotal role in Vidarbha's 2017/18 Ranji Trophy victory, taking 39 wickets during the season. He set the record for the most wickets by a seam bowler in a season. In the knockout stages, he claimed 27 wickets, leading all bowlers by a significant margin of 12 wickets, with an impressive average of 14.11.
Rishabh Pant made history in the 2020-21 Ranji Trophy final by becoming the youngest player to captain a team in the final. At just 20 years and 86 days old, Pant led Delhi, breaking the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who captained Mumbai in the 1994-95 final at the age of 21 years and 337 days.
Ajay Rohera set a new world record for the highest score on a first-class debut during the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season. Playing for Madhya Pradesh against Hyderabad, Rohera scored an unbeaten 267 runs, surpassing the previous record of 260 runs set by Amol Mazumdar, a former Mumbai player.
Hyderabad holds two remarkable records in the Ranji Trophy: the highest and the lowest team scores. In the 1993-94 season, Hyderabad recorded the highest innings total in Ranji history, while in the 2010-11 season, they set the record for the lowest team score, which was just 21 runs.
Gujarat holds the record for the longest wait for a Ranji Trophy title. After 83 seasons of perseverance, Gujarat finally clinched the championship, ending their long drought and making a significant mark in the tournament's history.
