The 38-year-old Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, is currently in phenomenal form. He recently made history by becoming the 'Man of the Series' in Australia. This achievement shows that his golden run continues.
At that time, Rohit became the third Indian player to score a double century in ODIs. Before him, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag had achieved this feat. Both had created history in their own unique ways, and now Rohit has carried that legacy forward.
At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Rohit scored 209 runs off 158 balls. His innings included 12 fours and 16 sixes. He started cautiously, but in the middle overs, he unleashed a devastating attack on the Australian bowlers.
When Rohit hit a magnificent six over deep extra cover off Clint McKay's bowling, Ravi Shastri, from the commentary box, exclaimed – “That’s the Hitman!” From that moment on, the name stuck with him forever.
Along with Rohit's innings, Shikhar Dhawan scored 60 and captain MS Dhoni played a quickfire knock of 62 runs. Thanks to these three, India posted a massive total of 383/6 in 50 overs.
