In the 21st match of the Big Bash League 2025–26 on Saturday, spectators witnessed David Warner's old aggressive form. The Sydney Thunder captain single-handedly changed the course of the match against the Hobart Hurricanes.
Warner scored an unbeaten 130 runs off just 65 balls. His strike rate was 200. In this explosive innings, he hit 11 fours and nine towering sixes.
With this century, Warner now has a total of nine centuries in T20 cricket. With this, he has equaled Virat Kohli's record. The record for the most centuries in T20 cricket (22) belongs to Chris Gayle.
After losing the toss and batting first, Sydney Thunder had a very poor start. Will Prestwidge dismissed Matthew Gilkes on the very first ball and then bowled Sam Konstas on the next ball.
After this, Warner formed a crucial 66-run partnership with wicketkeeper Sam Billings. Billings was dismissed LBW in the ninth over, giving Sydney another setback.
