Abhishek Sharma has scripted history by becoming the first Indian batter to hit over 100 sixes in a calendar year, reaching 101 during the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT).
During Punjab's match, he smashed another half-century, scoring 62 runs off just 34 balls, which included eight fours and three sixes, at an impressive strike rate of 182.35.
After Services elected to bat first, a 106-run partnership between Prabhsimran Singh (50 off 28 balls) and Abhishek Sharma laid the foundation for Punjab. Contributions from Anmolpreet Singh (34) and Naman Dhir (54) helped Punjab post a total of 233/6 in their 20 overs.
In 2025, Abhishek Sharma has amassed 1,499 runs in 36 T20 innings in 2025, with a top score of 148. He maintains an average of 42.82 and a strike rate of 204.22, which includes three centuries and nine half-centuries.
Abhishek has scored 304 runs at an average of 50.66 and a strike rate of close to 250 in the ongoing SMAT. His tally includes a century and two half-century making him the second-highest run scorer in the tournament.
Abhishek also became the No. 1 T20I batter this year, making him the youngest Indian to reach the top spot.
During the 2025 Asia Cup, he set a new record for the most runs in a single edition of the tournament, scoring 314 runs in seven innings, and was named Player of the Tournament.
