After impressing with the new ball, Arjun Tendulkar made another breakthrough in his second spell later in the day, dismissing Karnataka’s in-form batter and Sunrisers Hyderabad player Abhinav Manohar.
In reply, Karun Nair, recently left out of the Indian Test squad, built on his first-round score of 73 with an unbeaten 174, helping Karnataka post a total of 371 against Goa in their Ranji Trophy 2025–26 match at the KSCA Navule Stadium in Shimoga on Sunday. Although his teammates' declaration cut short his chance at a double century, the innings was a strong message to the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee that he still has plenty to offer.
Karun Nair was a lone wolf for Karnataka as Arjun Tendulkar and Vasuki Koushik claimed three wickets apiece. The experienced batter reached his century on Day 1 and appeared poised for a well-earned double on Day 2, but his hopes were dashed when the final batter, Vidhwath Kaverappa, was run out.
Still, the innings of Karun Nair sent a strong signal to the BCCI selectors that he remains determined to make a third comeback to the Indian team, even though the committee had previously closed the door on him.
