The year 2025 proved challenging for the Indian Test team. A 0-2 defeat against South Africa, preceded by a 0-3 home series loss against New Zealand, raised questions about the team's preparation.
According to reports, Gill has suggested to the BCCI that a special 15-day red-ball camp be held before every Test series to allow the team sufficient time for preparation.
The team lacked adequate practice time last season due to a packed schedule. Playing a Test series just days after winning the Asia Cup is a prime example.
Sources indicate that Gill is now clearer and more vocal about his vision. He has taken on the responsibility of leading both the Test and ODI teams after Rohit Sharma.
India's schedule will remain quite busy in the coming year, including several white-ball series. Organizing a 15-day camp before every Test series will not be easy.
It is likely that while Gautam Gambhir is busy with the white-ball teams, VVS Laxman may be entrusted with the responsibility of the red-ball camps.
