In this collection of pictures we shall know 4 star players from MS Dhoni's CSK who might be released to increase IPL 2026 Auction purse. Let's dive in.

R Ashwin's retirement

Before the next season, experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced he is retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL). This gave CSK an extra Rs 9.75 crore for the IPL 2026 auction. After Ashwin's retirement, CSK may let go of some players who did not perform well and try to buy stronger players in the auction.

Devon Conway

In the IPL 2025 mega auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought star opener Devon Conway for Rs 6.25 crore. But CSK chose Rachin Ravindra to play more in the first part of the IPL. When Conway got a chance, he didn't perform well, scoring only 156 runs in 6 matches during the IPL 2025 season. Because of his low performance and high price, CSK might let go of Conway before the IPL 2026 auction and look for a better opener for the next season.

Rahul Tripathi

CSK bought Rahul Tripathi for Rs 3.40 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. He played in different spots but couldn't perform well with the bat. In five games, Tripathi scored only 55 runs, with an average of 11.00 and a strike rate of 96.49, and was later left out of the team's main lineup. Because of his poor performance, CSK might release him before the IPL 2026 auction to find more dependable batsmen for the next season.

Rachin Ravindra

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) used their Right to Match (RTM) card to buy Rachin Ravindra for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. But the young player from New Zealand didn't play his best in the IPL 2025 season, scoring 191 runs in 8 games with an average of 27.28 and a strike rate of 128.18. Because of his average performance, CSK may think about releasing Rachin before the IPL 2026 auction and look for a new opener.

Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda, bought by CSK for Rs 1.7 crore in the auction, didn't perform well in the IPL 2025 season. He played in different batting spots but couldn't make an impact, scoring only 31 runs in 7 matches. After his poor performance, CSK may think about releasing Hooda before the IPL 2026 auction and look to buy stronger batters for the next season.
