The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to make two recruitments in the Senior Selection Committee. It has taken this decision after the announcement of the team for Asia Cup-2025. BCCI issued a statement on Friday saying that it is searching for two new selectors in the committee headed by Ajit Agarkar and has also advertised for this.
In the statement, BCCI has told which players can be a part of the Senior Selection Committee. To be a part of this committee, the applicant must have played at least seven matches or 30 first class matches or 10 ODIs and 20 first class matches for India. Apart from this, the applicant should have retired from international cricket for at least five years. Also, he should not have been a part of any committee of BCCI in the last five years.
At present, apart from Ajit Agarkar, Shiv Sunder Das, Subroto Banerjee, Ajay Ratra and Sridharan Sharath are part of the senior selection committee. According to the Hindustan Times report, Pragyan Ojha can be included in the committee in place of Sharat. Sharat can take over the post of Chief Selector of the Junior Selection Committee. Apart from this, two selectors will be replaced. Ajit Agarkar's tenure has also been extended till 2026.
BCCI has also informed that applications have been sought for four places in the women's selection committee. Former players who have been a member of the Indian women's team and have retired from the game at least five years ago can apply for this. She should not have been a part of any committee of BCCI in the last five years.
BCCI has also invited applications to fill one position in the Junior Selection Committee. Only those former players can apply for this who have played at least 25 first class matches. He should have retired from Test cricket five years ago. He should not have been a part of any BCCI committee in the last five years.
